Soft Skills go a long way in conducting interviews and career advancement.
Not sure where to begin? Here are some of my recommendations:
1. Presenting technical ideas in an effective way.
Knowing your audience can help deliver ideas and solutions. I have a solid motto of presenting information at a sixth-grade education level. This helps me have a baseline of keeping information in layman’s terms. It’s not easy to take a step back and ask if everyone knows this information at a high level.
2. Working with others.
In the tech field, we work with some of the most talented and passionate people. It’s easy to get caught up in emotions or misinterpret delivery (especially being remote). Asking for clarification or meeting with someone 1:1 can go a long way toward knowing how to build professional relationships and working toward the same end goal.
3. Networking.
Yes, networking at work or in the community can help build those soft skills. You’re learning to navigate conversations with different personalities and understanding how to effectively work with a diverse group of people.
