In the dynamic world of cybersecurity, neurodiversity isn’t just a buzzword it’s a powerful advantage.  People who are neurodivergent (including those with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and other cognitive  variations) bring unique perspectives and skills that can elevate security teams and strategies. And  sometimes, it takes a moment from childhood to truly recognize the brilliance of thinking differently.

A Childhood Encounter That Changed My Perspective 

When I was young, I met a boy who everyone in school thought was “different.” He would often get  distracted, forget homework, and daydream during class. But give him a puzzle, a pattern, or a problem  no one else could solve, and he’d crack it effortlessly. I remember watching him complete a seemingly  impossible logic puzzle in minutes — something that had stumped the rest of us for hours. 

Years later, I learned he went on to work in cybersecurity, where his gift for spotting patterns helped him  detect sophisticated threats and breaches. The very qualities that seemed like challenges in childhood  turned out to be his greatest strengths. That encounter taught me a crucial lesson: minds that think  differently can achieve extraordinary things when given the right environment.
